We have worked on a documentary made by Eagle Media Productions for Discovery Channel.
The documentary is about the Resistance in the Netherlands during the war.
For this production we were asked to pull out all stops!
We did a lot of research, contacted real resistance members, acted as interpreters, advised, provided authentic reproductions, organized access to unique and rarely filmed Atlantic-wall bunkers, took care of weapon permits for filming, organized a group of authentically dressed Dutch 1940 soldiers in exact reproductions of the real uniforms and last but not least we acted in several scenes for them.
We were honored that we could share the story of the Dutch resistance with a English speaking audience.
We acted out a scene where German soldiers look for people in hiding in a small living room, not knowing that someone is indeed hiding behind the book case...
We re-enacted the work of our brave couriers, set up a German checkpoint in the woods and even showed how downed Allied Airmen were helped by the Dutch to avoid capture.
The film crew was impressed by our quality reenactments and our historically correct impressions.

The documentary was broadcasted in january and february 2005 and will probably be repeated several times.

Photo's made by Marco Hilgers.

Our Dutch soldiers are ready for the German onslaught.
They are wearing exact reproductions of the 1940 uniform and carry original items.

In the National War and Resistance museum we act out a scene where two German soldiers and a Dutch collaborator search a small home while the children do homework and a man is hiding behind the bookcase.

The Dutch traitor checks the little girls face with the photo on her ID card.

A German checkpoint, Papers please!

A woman with two children passes by with a pram filled with apples, the German soldier checks their paperwork and tells them to move on, not spotting the Underground newspapers hidden in the secret compartment!

Just a short distance down the road another resistance member jumps out of the woods to collect the newspapers.
The pram was a original item used by couriers during the war.

Our RAF airman, bailed out over Holland and desperate to avoid being captured by the Germans.

Two German soldiers stop Patrick to check his papers.
The paperwork is a exact reproduction made by us and if they open his suitcase they will only find authentic material.

The German soldiers were provided by Studygroup and Living History Association 3.Kom 60.PzGrReg 116.PzDiv Der Windhund.
The only proffesional German reenactment group in the Netherlands we work with.
